Restaurant Review: Signature Grill
Driving down Green Street on campus, I see a pleasant red overhang above the door that just screams “You will get some good food here!”
Signature Grill is the name of the place. The writing on the sign has a lot of character and reminds me of Disney somehow…
Regardless of the sign, I headed inside. There I see the fine green paint that somehow invokes the feeling of hunger. I also see that there is not a lot of seating and there are only a handful of people in that sparse seating.
I got into line at the Subway-like build-your-own-meal counter and was greeted by the worker.
The walls of Signature Grill are very well decorated with pictures of various items that you can make there. The best part of this decor is that on each picture of their food items. There is also text that tells you exactly what it is in the picture, so you are never left wondering how to make that delicious-looking dish. This is a huge plus for these types of restaurants where the options can seem so endless that you just order in a panic when it’s your turn!
The bottom of the menu is full of helpful information as well. It states that the restaurant is Halal Certified and gives various warnings about any food allergies to let the workers know to accommodate. And they can!
From the variety of options, I ordered a rice bowl with chicken tikka sauce, cheese, and lettuce, with two samosas on the side. I indulged and also ordered a mango lassi (a traditional Indian smoothie-like drink made from yogurt).
My meal came assembled very nicely in a box, so I paid and found a table.
Opening the paperboard box, I was ready to dig in. The food looked delicious, and it was. There was the slightest hint of spice, but not too much. I didn’t get a very spicy option, but if someone wants a bit more kick to their meal, there are many other options for them.
After a while of eating, I tried the samosas (A fried snack from the middle east with spices, vegetables, and potatoes inside). The outer shell is nice and crispy with a warm center. After a little while, I felt the unique spice that samosas have. It is unlike any other spicy food. You truly just have to experience it to understand.
Overall, Signature Grill is a great place to get some good food. Some might even call it “The Most Magical Place” on Green Street!
