Starting high school is no easy task. The transition from middle school to high school is always a big jump for anyone, especially the new UHS freshmen.

Most aren’t ready for the early wake-up time or the amount of work one will have. But there are still a lot of freshmen who are looking forward to later in their years as sophomores, juniors, and eventually seniors!

Adjusting to the difference from middle to high school forces us to get used to the new routines that we adapt over time.

Anissha Dickerson is mainly looking forward to “learning the whole new experience that high school is going to offer.”

We all can probably relate!

Hannah Myers said that she is looking forward to the opportunity to “meet and talk to new and different people and try all kinds of different things.”

Another important thing to look forward to is Homecoming and other events typical of high school life.

“I’m most looking forward to homecoming and going with all of my friends and going out to football games and just showing support to the team. I think it will all be fun!” said Joyce Mirelez.

Mirelez also mentioned that she is excited to learn how to drive and is “ready to drive around the whole town and be outside the house!”

Carter Battie also mentioned that he is ready to look forward to “starting the driver’s permit process and then earning my license and then saving up to buy a new car.”

Driving isn’t the only thing he is looking forward to, adding that he is looking forward to fighting for a boys’ volleyball team soon since he believes that “boys should have a chance to play and earn titles and medals for themselves.”

A month into the school year, we look forward to seeing more to come from the freshmen!
