Jurdan Tyler: Making girls wrestling history
Over the weekend, junior Jurdan Tyler made Urbana and Illinois State history by placing 3rd at the first-ever IHSA Girls State Wrestling tournament.
“I wanted it more than any other woman, so I manifested it. Saw it. And did it!,” she said.
Tyler showed confidence during her matches, but did not always feel that way inside, admitting that sometimes she “psyched [herself] out in the beginning of the season after seeing bigger girls” that she would have to face.
Tyler clearly overcame these thoughts. What makes her accomplishment even more impressive is that this is the first year of wrestling for Tyler, though it is clearly not her last.
She looks forward to making even more progress and getting back to State for her senior year!
