Saturday brings first ever Sneaker Ball to UHS
Sneakers, dancing, and an enjoyable night are on their way this upcoming weekend at UHS! The African American Club is partnering with the Habitat for Humanity Club to hold Urbana High School’s first ever Sneaker Ball.
“It [Sneaker Ball] really helps build a sense of community and that’s kind of really what we want to do. We really just want to connect people so you can make more friends, meet new people, make more connections,” said junior and African American Club member Amiyah Puryear-Abdullah.
Whether you enjoy dressing up or not, sneakers are what this night is all about.
To make this night even more memorable, MEP coordinator Asia Hall is raffling off the chance to win a pair of sneakers of the winner’s choice.
The idea of the raffle came from Hall’s partner who owns his own sneaker business and was willing to “…raffle off a pair of sneakers that he had that nobody claimed, but then I was like, ‘no it would be dope if they could choose whatever sneaker they would want,’” said Hall.
No matter what your dream sneaker is, there’s still a way to get it! All sneakers are included in this raffle.
Don’t even like sneakers? This dance is still for you!
“It’s a sneaker if it fits your attire, go with it. It doesn’t have to be the latest and the hottest, it’s what’s comfortable for you, you get to dress up but be comfy,” said Hall.
