Serving up some serious skill: Rah’Kiyah Boatright-Williams

For Rah’Kiyah Boatright-Williams, volleyball is a true passion. She has been playing volleyball since 6th grade and the experience shows. Once she came to the high school, she made varsity her freshman year and stayed there!

The girls varsity volleyball team had to go with no seniors this season, so the juniors really had to step up. Boatright-Williams was a natural choice for captain. It might be her energy on and off the court or her kind soul that makes her care about her teammates.

“I am looking forward to being the player on and off the court that all of my teammates can come to for tips, help, encouragement, as well as some uplifting no matter what team they are on,” she said.

Although the team is younger than expected, they still fought very hard at every game they played.

Boatright-Williams has noticed and appreciated this effort. “Our team progresses every single day. We have won about half of the games we’ve played, and I feel that it’s been a great season so far,” she said.

The progress she made with herself showed all the way to the News-Gazette, and she was nominated for Athlete of the Week.

She has not put a lot of emphasis on playing once she is out of high school, but if an opportunity comes up for her she will not pass it up.

Now that her season has come to an end she is looking forward to relaxing and then getting right back into it playing travel volleyball!
