First, future of flag football
UPDATE:
All of the hard work paid off as the flag football team picked up their 2nd win of the season on Saturday in a come-from-behind fashion, winning 16-12 over Belleville West.
Connecting for scoring plays were Bailey Russell, Honor Dillon, Londyn Atwater, Liyah Coleman, and Zaniyah Ward. Defense was led by Destinee Burden with an interception and many tackles for losses.
Manuela Cristobal and Katarina Riddle also had interceptions.
Great job, team!
On September 18th, the flag football team, led by coaches Ordell Walker and Bobby Boykin, had their first home game against Belleville East High School, where the team suffered a devastating loss.
The loss did not come from a lack of preparation, which they showed with a huge win over Peoria a few weeks ago. Coach Walker has been helping by pushing the athletes through practice and has been using resources like Google Classroom to help them learn the playbook.
Walker already has goals set for next season: “Next year, I would love to have enough members where we can play so we can play a JV and Varsity schedule next year.”
Walker says that he would also like to play more games as this season we have only had one home game on the schedule.
Saturday, the team will travel to Peoria to take on Danville High School and Belleville West High School.
