Hello fall break!
If you’re late to the party, next week is our first-ever Fall Break, a week off to relax and recuperate. Naturally, most students are happy to see a fall break added to the calendar, but what do teachers think about it?
“I think it’s a good idea. I’m glad our schedule is changing now. I feel like it’s a good idea to give the teachers and students a break–especially after non-stop learning and working for 3 months straight,” said academy teacher Jordon Smith.
PE teacher Miki Kowalski was even more enthusiastic. “It’s 5 days off in October. Why wouldn’t I be excited?” he said.
Social Studies teacher Mark Foley loves the idea of this new break, and wants the district to go even further: “I love fall break. I’m all in. I would like there to be a break every week. One week of school, then one week off!”
Though some teachers are looking forward to a week to catch up on grading and planning, math teacher Mx. Irwin is looking forward to total freedom from school.
“Sometimes I need to just run into the forest for a week and get away from civilization,” they admitted.
No matter how you spend it, enjoy the week off, UHS!
