No pain, no gain: students speak on different piercings
Walking through the halls of UHS you see many different styles of accessories, but something that stands out is piercings. Whether it’s a belly button ring or an earring, they all have a story.
Below, students share their opinions on their piercings based on the pain, healing process, and overall look.
Industrial
Junior Yamileth Mejia-Becerril rated the pain of her industrial piercing as only a 2/10.
“The healing wasn’t too bad. It took like 2-3 months to completely heal,” she added.
Overall, she would give it a 10/10 since it looks great at “it’s not as bad as people say it is.”
Nose
Sophomore Ny’asia Johnson rated the pain 8/10.
“The needle going in only hurt for a couple of seconds tho, but I had no after pain or bleeding. Only time it hurts now is when I leave a ring out for a long time.”
Overall she gave it a 10/10.
Septum
Junior D’meneca Turner-Winston rated her pain a 2/10.
“The healing process didn’t hurt at all because I didn’t touch it besides to wash it,” she said.
Overall, she gave it a 3/10, though she did think the healing process was a 4.
Navel
Sophomore Ma’at Brewer rated the pain a 4/10 “because it didn’t really hurt. It was just like a little pinch!”
She added that “my piercing got infected and hurt sometimes,” so she rated the healing process as a 5/10.
But overall, she gave it a 7.5 since the pain was worth the gain.
