Capture the flag: new at Urbana High School
Tonight UHS will host a capture the flag event to bring the student body together and get students hyped up for the school year.
Student Senate President Halie Thompson is ecstatic for the upcoming capture the flag game. “As a student and president I love seeing people happy about this event and I think it is getting them excited for hoco,” she said.
The Student Senate and teachers aren’t the only ones excited for capture the flag. Senior Matika Pounginjai is full of school spirit. Pounginjai believes it’s getting people excited in general and that because it’s an event for Homecoming it makes everyone look forward to homecoming this year and years to come.
Jordon Smith, teacher and sophomore class sponsor, thinks an event like this is exactly what students need. “Many students in our school have never had a chance to experience the typical ‘Homecoming Week’ because of the pandemic,” Smith explains.
The Class Sponsors and Student Senate are doing everything they can to build up what seems lost. Everyone is hopeful the Capture the Flag game will be the foundation for future events and school spirit at UHS.
