The Kamala Harris effect
On January 20, Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first female Vice President of the United States. People, especially young women, felt confident in supporting her.
“I feel that this is a huge step for women, especially for the younger generations that see Mrs. Harris as the first woman to be Vice President,” said freshman Gabrielle Bautista.
Sophomore Olivia Reynolds sees this as a huge part of what’s going on in the world right now.
“It’s huge for ladies that want to be a big part in society, and it shows that if they put their mind to it, the world is theirs,” she said.
Harris becoming Vice President is not only important for women but it’s also important for the black and asian community.
“Another reason this was historic is because her parents are immigrants, which shows that no matter your background or the color of skin you can achieve anything you want,” said Bautista.
With almost 70 days in office, it is clear to see that women can do whatever they want and achieve their life long dream. They can put their mind to anything.
