UHS staying in remote learning for first semester
UHS has decided to stay in remote learning for the rest of the first semester. It was said that students were coming back to school in mid-October however, this is no longer the case.
Some students were not aware of this, but it has not caused a major impact as students have already been learning online since August.
Remote learning is different and more complicated, especially for students with siblings, since it is hard to focus on their own schoolwork while also taking care of other younger children who need to do their own schoolwork.
“Well, for me it hasn’t been too hard, but since I have 4 siblings and I’m the oldest, I have to check on them every once in a while since they are doing online school too,” says Marisol Juan, junior.
Staying at home doing school work does have some other issues. Because teachers are getting emails left and right, it is much difficult for students to get in contact with said teachers and get a response to their questions on time.
“Teachers are swamped with emails, so it takes longer to get help on simple problems,” says Nathan Jones, junior.
Teachers and students are having issues but learning online keeps everyone safe at home. Although there have been some complications with online learning, continuing will help students to get used to it and will decrease any recurring problems.
Now, with the change of seasons and winter being really close, there are more risks. In order to decrease those risks as much as possible, it is better to stay in remote learning. No one knows what will happen next but for now, let’s learn and stay safe.
