One more time: senior reflections
With two months of senior year left, seniors are in the homestretch toward graduation. After four long years, the class of 2019 has learned a lot and is looking forward to the final weeks of their high school career.
Many seniors are most excited for two big rites of passage for their last year: prom and the senior trip.
With so little time left in high school, students want to make as many memories as they can. Emma Hazen says that these two events will allow her to “see all my friends together one last time before we all move around.”
Senior year brings many lasts, especially when it comes to extracurriculars. For her last time to be a part of the spring musical, Newsies Ksenya Kouzminova says,“I’m looking forward to performing flute in the pit.” She is also is looking forward to other activities like, “spending time with my friends in art club.”
Some people are looking forward to not only cherishing memories, but also finishing with less desirable experiences. Kalika Shapiro can’t wait to “get AP testing over with.”
In high school one meets a lot of people, and makes some of the closest friends they will have in their lives. Joelle Busby is “Looking forward to making those last memories.”
While looking forward to the end, this graduating class at the same time is also reflecting on the things UHS has taught them these past four years.
“High school is when you’re figuring out a lot about how life works,” Busby says, and also adds that the teachers at UHS also helps with this by not only sticking to the curriculum but they also, “taught me a thing or two about life along the way too.”
“I think the biggest thing I’ll miss is all the friends I’ve made. I feel like I met a lot of really cool people who I wouldn’t have met or been friends with if I hadn’t gone to UHS,” says Shapiro.
She also praises the teachers as Busby did, “I’m really happy with the teachers I’ve had and I feel they taught me a lot about how I learn and study, I’m very grateful.”
For Aiah Radwan and many others high school, no matter where you go, is a time when you learn a lot about life and yourself. “I’ve learned from UHS a lot about myself and how to manage my time better,” she says.
Vivek Ekkirala believes “high school is a time to try your best even when it seems like there is no hope.” This shows the hard part of being in school, but he adds on how “even when it seemed like this at time, I just rode it out and it turned out to be in my favor,” showing there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
This last little bit will be a time like no other, and it is most important to cherish the people close to you, and make memories that will last a lifetime. And as it can be seen, that is exactly what this graduating class is planning on doing.
