UHS Winter Guard takes first

This past Saturday, the UHS Winter Guard took first in AAA Lyrical Flag at the Illinois Drill Team Association State Finals in Springfield.

This was Urbana’s first Winter Guard, an indoor season of Color Guard, season. It is clear that it will not be their last.

“Honestly it was unexpected,” senior and captain Alison Hernandez says in regards to their championship. “It’s something really amazing I get to experience my last year of high school and my first year of winter guard.”

Captain Veronica Bustamante has similar positive views and encourages others to join this summer. “Join if you want to make friends and create a strong bond with people,” she says. “It’s good if you’re into competitiveness and not good at sports.”
