Leaf piles and other chilly activities
The weather has cooled down enough for outside activities to be pleasant again and Halloween themed amusements have popped up. Take advantage of the weather and partake in some of Fall’s fun activities!
One of the C-U’s gems, Curtis Apple Orchard, located off of Curtis Road is open for another fall season! You can go to pick either pumpkins, apples or just to walk around the leaf strewn pathways. When you’re done with that, be sure to pop into the store for an apple donut (or two) and cider.
Want something to do at night but you don’t really know where to go? Go to a haunted house near you! Midway of Madness at the country fairgrounds is not open this year but The Haunt at Bone Saw Mill in Champaign, and the Baldwin Asylum in Rantoul are, so check them out! It’ll be a frighteningly good time!
Another great fall activity is exploring a corn maze! It’s easy to spend hours in a corn maze, the trick is to see if you can find your way back out! Curtis Apple Orchard has a corn maze, as does Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch, located in Rantoul.
If you don’t feel like going out have a fun time in the fall, don’t worry! Fall is a great time to gather your friends together, make a fire and roast marshmallows or tell scary stories and catch up.
Another great thing about fall? A hot cup of coffee is a great way warm! Catch up with friends by chatting over coffee, or go to a local coffee shop like Caffè Bene or Caffe Paradiso together to work on homework. You’ll be social and productive at the same time. It’s a win-win situation!
Now, if you’re looking for an easy way to make money to pay for all these fun fall activities, don’t worry! Mother Nature has provided a quick way to make cash. Once leaves have fallen from the trees, ask around your neighborhood to see if someone would be willing to pay you to rake their leaves.
Fall has so many fun things to do, get out there and make some memories!
