A Carnivorous Blow Up
After Jurassic World came out in 2015, the following year was hit with many videos of kids to adults wearing the costume to do mundane tasks or just running down the street. And in October, a Youtube channel was started about a T-Rex going about the ‘human world’ just trying to survive and “stay away from going extinct,” says the channel description.
The channel, Ralph_the_Rex, has been going strong all through 2016 and 2017 with almost 18,000 subscribers and more than 2 million views.
A different channel, started in December 2015, called Trex Tuesdays, is also about a T-Rex just trying to survive and going on adventures every Tuesday.
But not only people on Youtube found it enjoyable to wear the costume. People would wear it out in public just for fun. And one person wore it onto the Atlanta City qualifier course for American Ninja Warrior.
The qualifier came in the blow up costume and ran the course, confusing and amusing several of the spectators and even the commentators. The Carnivore from the Cretaceous Period as he was called, was not the only dinosaur to run.
Later that year the second annual “Dinosaur Marathon” was held in Nashville.
“It was started as a joke,” said one organizer. “But we aim to make it a tradition.”
From three T-Rexes beating up an inflatable santa, Barney fighting with a T-Rex, a dinosaur riding a horse, or even as mundane an activity as shoveling snow or taking out the trash, this costume has surely inspired a lot of humor and weird sightings of extinct carnivores.
