Are You a Baddie?
A Baddie: a girl that is up to par with everything that she does. A baddie is always on “fleek.” She is the ultimate package, remaining on top of everything that she does. She is known for her confidence and her unique beauty. She slays everything.
A baddie has her own unique style. Her overall style is a combination of classy mixed with sportswear: from Nike and Adidas sweatwear to designer accessories and elegant dresses.
Talia Burton, an Urbana High School student, admits that her overall style varies from time to time.
“Yeah, I never just like to be plain. I always like to switch it up sometimes. On lazy days like Monday or Wednesday, I love wearing my Nike hoodies and sweatpants. On other days, I wear dresses, watches, and since it’s fall I always wear brown, grey, or even burgundy sometimes.”
A baddie knows what she is capable of. She treats herself with the utmost respect, respecting her values and those of others as well. She has taste, class, and works hard for absolutely everything that she possesses. She is a perfectionist.
Arlana Webb, UHS student says, “I think about myself all the time, which means I’m always on my grades, my work, and myself. My image is really important to me. I know it’s important to take care of myself, because I hate depending on other people. And as for boys, I don’t care for boys at all. I can have them if I want to; I’m just not thinking about them at a time of my life right now. I’m working on myself on all different types of levels, to be a strong and successful black woman.”
A true baddie is confident with herself. She does not believe in comparing herself to other women. She does not hate or look down on other female individuals. She believes in helping other females coming together as a whole and helping each other be the best that they can be.
“There’s no point. I hate to see girls degrading other girls for the stupidest things. It only further gives guys a reason to do the same thing. It’s true. If you truly love and admire yourself, there is no reason to envy other beautiful women,” says Ayanna Weatherspoon, UHS student.
On the contrary to what many believe, a baddie faces hardship just like any other individual. It’s what she does with it that makes her unique.
All women have the potential to be a special beauty. Be beautiful. Be strong. Be wise. Be bad.
