Senior Girls find Pride in Powderpuff Win
The Junior girls came out strong in the first half, with the first touchdown by Sierra Poor. The Juniors then went for a 2 point conversion, which they were able to achieve by Poor.
With the Juniors being the first to score, Senior Cedrick Fry started to lead the Junior girls and Cheerleaders into a chant.
This only fired up the Senior girls, which set off a cheering match between each grades cheerleaders and fans. This cheering match would last for the whole game.
Ali Slaughter would pull the Senior girls back into the game, with a 60 yard run touchdown. As the Senior fans went wild, Kaitlyn Fouke would score a field goal for the Seniors, bring the score to 7-8, Juniors.
Slaughter said, “Having other seniors come out and support the team made it all the more fun. Having people cheer us on made everyone more into the game and it definitely helped us beat the Juniors”.
As the fans cheered back and forth, the Junior girls were able to score another touchdown, but were unable to gain the 2-point conversion that they went for. This would bring the score to 7-14, Juniors.
Yet, Slaughter would strike again, with another hard run for the in-zone, getting another touchdown, bringing the score to 13-14.
Slaughter would again score with a field goal, gaining 3 points which would bring the score for the Seniors to 16-14.
Amanda Awayda would be the last to score for the game, bringing the final score to 23-14, Seniors.
Maddie Headtke, a Senior, said, “I thought we worked together well as a team, that allowed us to win”.
The Senior fans rushed the field in celebration of the win by the girls. With the hard fought game at a close, the Senior and Juniors shook hands and that was the end of the 2014 PowderPuff game.
