Kevin Durant Chooses Nike. Dissapoints Under Armour.

Under Armour is in need of a key franchise person to enlarge their business, and NBA All-Star Kevin Durant was the guy they were looking for until he decided to continue his career with Nike. ESPN sources reported that Nike’s All-Star KD was offered a $265 million to $285 million deal on August 21 for the next ten years, including a community center for his mother near their hometown in Maryland.

Under Armour, lacking resources and being a small industry, could have used Durant heavily. This endorsement deal would have been the biggest sponsorship that Under Armour has ever committed to. Only if Durant had agreed.

“It’s about the money, personally,” said Urbana Freshman Basketball Coach Carlon Butler. “If I was put in this situation, I would take the money,” he continued.

However, Nike had all the legal rights to match the offer, but Durant could have chosen Nike if it didn’t match, but he could have legally chosen Under Armour if Nike did. Nike fans would have felt discouraged with the movement if KD agreed with the Under Armor deal.

“Nike fans would be sad because they have been loyal for many years,” said Senior Ricardo Vargas.

“I think Nike would be pretty upset due to the fact that Nike is one of the top organizations in sports, but some would just support him in going to Under Armour,” said Senior Quinton Cunningham.
