Bloomington Woman and former UHS Student Charged with Battery
A Bloomington woman, Heather Shrum, was charged with aggravated battery on Sept.12.
Shrum, a graduate from UHS, allegedly caused two skull fractures on her 5-week-old daughters head. After lying, she admitted to authorities that she hit the baby in the face towards the end of August, and threw her down on the floor on Sept. 8.
According to a statement Assistant States Attorney read in court, the incidents occurred because she was frustrated with the baby, as reported by Edith Brady-Lunny for the Pantagraph.
Shrum’s bond was set at $1 million, which means she must post $100,025 in order to be released. Her arraignment is set for Sept. 26.
The baby, Adylynn, is in critical condition at a Peoria hospital.
