UHS Spring Sports
Girls’ softball tryouts were March 3rd and 4th and the team has been set and practices have started. The team includes 24 players, which is 12 on Varsity and 12 on Junior Varsity. Both teams have tons of things they need and want to work on. Many want to improve the teams’ record of wins. In the past few years Urbana Softball records have been very low in the wins column.
Makayla Dulaney, freshman said, “I’m really excited to get this season started. I love playing the game and being with my team.”
Track is another sport that is starting this spring. They have a big team this year, and great coaches. The team will be being coached by Coach Breit and Coach Boscolo. The two have done a great job coaching track, and have many goals for the team to reach. Hopefully they train hard and keep going for the 2014 season.
Boys’ baseball has just begun, and the boys are already working hard in practice. JV and Varsity teams have been picked, and they are working hard. The baseball team in the past has done a decent job bringing back victories, but the team as a whole has many goals they want to accomplish.
Russell Shaffer, sophomore said, “I want to lead the team in wins as a pitcher.”
Girls’ soccer is the last sport that is being held this spring, and Coach Blackman has been an amazing coach in the years that he has coached. The girls are really pushing themselves to win every game they can. The workouts may be tough, but Urbana soccer teams really show what they got when they get on the field.
Good luck to all spring sports for the 2014 season.
what about boys’ tennis? 🙁
