The Craigslist Killer
Miranda Barbour, a 19 year-old newly wed, joined her husband of three weeks, Elytte Barbour, to go on a killing spree. To mark their three-week wedding anniversary they went for blood instead of cake.
According to CNN, Miranda posed as a teenage girl on Craigslist and agreed to have sex for $100 with a man named Troy LaFerrara.
“She stabbed LaFerrara 20 times with a knife in the front seat of her red Honda CR-V while her husband tied a cable cord around his neck,” police said, according to CNN. Laferrara’s body was found in the backyard of someone’s home 100 miles northwest from Philadelphia on Nov. 12. Barbour has claimed she has participated in at least 22 killings.
She has said, “When I hit 22, I stopped counting…I can pinpoint on a map where you can find them.” Barbour claimed she had her first killing when she was 13.
According to CNN, Barbour is quoted as saying,”If I were to be released, I would do this again.”
She claims to only kill bad people, which is relatable to the show “Dexter” where the main character kills people who do bad things.
Corey Arnold, Freshman at UHS, said,”I think it’s cruel that the Barbour’s killed someone. This situation goes to show that the internet is dangerous and you should always be careful when using it. I hope LaFerrara’s family heals from the pain of his loss and justice is served.”
Miranda Barbour is now begging to be spared lethal injection because she says execution is a “cruel and inhumane punishment”.
