USA Olympic Hockey Falls to Canada
The Women made it all the way to the finals and were eventually knocked out but the Canadian National Team on Feb. 20th. The final score was 3-2 and Canada’s win was due to an incredible two goal comeback to push the game into overtime and then they won in overtime. Marie-Philip Poulin is the woman on the Canadian team the scored both the game-tying and the game-winning goals. The American women ended up giving the U.S. a silver medal, which is nothing to be upset at.
On the other gender’s side, the U.S. Men lost in their semifinal match on Feb. 21st. Ironically enough, they lost to the Canadian Men’s National Team. They lost this game 1-0 and this knocked them out of contention for a Gold or Silver medal, but they would still have a chance for Bronze. Sadly though, they did not deliver and lost to Finland in a stunning 5-0 defeat.
Canada has enjoyed a great deal of success so far, not just in Hockey. So far Canada is in third place for most Gold medals with 10. 2 of these coming from the only possible 2 Gold medals of Hockey.
With all this being said, while it is still a sad time to be an United States Hockey fan, it is still a great time to be an American Olympics Fan. America is current in fourth place in terms of Gold Medals behind Russia, Norway, and Canada, but they are in second place with total medals awarded. They have 28 total medals, 9 Gold, 7 Siver, and 12 Bronze.
