Snow Days at UHS
Assistant Superintendent Todd Taylor posted a video of him singing a “snow day song” to the tune of “Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffet, in order to announce the snow day to the faculty.
“I think it was fun and in different situations it’s important to have a light hearted look at things. And there was nothing we could do about the weather, we can’t control it, so he definitely made the best of it, and I think it was pretty fun. And snow days are one of those things that it is just tough to call them because we have a routine and it makes it difficult to keep that routine when we aren’t here. But if you get frustrated over it, that’s just silliness because there’s nothing you can do about it, and his video made the best of a bad situation” said Principal Matthew Stark.
Taylor started the video off by singing “we’re having a snow day/ it’s gonna be okay”, so you get the idea.
Taylor continued the song for over a minute, but then at the end he talked normally and officially announced the snow day.
This principal snow day song trend was happening in more places than just here, and it had a big reaction everywhere it went.
Raine Craig, junior, said, “It was really funny and I thought it was kind of cool for him to do that instead of just canceling it the traditional way.”
The video Taylor posted has now been viewed over 16,000 times.
When I saw that video I was sitting in the back of a bus in Jerusalem. Lets just say I got some looks, but for some odd reason, made me miss the snow. Great article Shelby!
