Last Call at Chez Mort Currently Playing at Saint Patrick’s Church
Death is on the menu at Saint Patrick’s Church as they present “The Last Call at Chez Mort,” a murder mystery set in a 1940s club written by Lee Mueller. Tickets are on sale for the two shows, Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Student tickets cost five dollars, adult tickets cost 10 dollars, and 25 dollars buys tickets for anyone in your immediate family. Tickets are available in advance and at the door.
“Watching young actors grow and learn [is the best part of the show], and to top it off, they make money for the mission trip,” Mardia Bishop, director and drama instructor, said.
The show is an annual occurrence to raise money for the youth group’s mission trip. While the play is taking place at a church, it is not a religious play by any means. The play is led by a cast of talented actors who put together the play in a month and a half. Even in the short timeframe, the show has become well polished.
“It’s pee-your-pants funny,” Cindy Adamek, sound and stage crew member, said.
Take your chance to question the cast during the second act and solve the murder at 708 W. Main St. Urbana, Ill., the building next to the church.
