Paul Walker’s Death Shocks the US
Death is never an easy thing to take in, especially when it’s someone that has been on TV screens all around America for many years.
Paul William Walker IV passed away in a tragic car crash along with his friend and the car’s driver, Roger Rodas, on Saturday Nov. 30 at around 3:30 p.m..
The Fast and Furious star died from “combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries” according to the Los Angeles County coroner. The two beloved men died “within seconds,” of the fatal crash, with Rodas dying from traumatic injuries as well.
Rodas was driving a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT with in the passenger seat when they somehow lost control and crashed into a concrete light pole and multiple trees.
The 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, of limited production, has a history of being hard to control. Considering that the car can reach 100mph in less than seven seconds, officials have said that speed was, indeed, a factor in this unimaginable crash.
The car was engulfed in flames within a minute after impact, and both men were dead.
Walker was well-known for his roles in movies like the Fast and Furious series, American Breakdown, Vehicle 19, Brick Mansions, Stories USA, Bottoms Up, Tammy and the T-Rex, Monster in the Closet, Noel, Hours, Turbo-Charged Prelude, Meet the Deedles, The Skulls, Flags of Our Fathers, Pleasantville, The Lazarus Project, The Death and Life of Bobby Z, Timeline, She’s All That, Varsity Blues, Joy Ride, Running Scared, Eight Below, Takers, and Into the Blue.
Walker had one daughter, 15 year-old Meadow Walker. He also had two brothers, two sisters, and a girlfriend, who he’d been dating for seven years.
Rodas was married, and had two children.
While the world will never completely stop mourning the deaths of these beloved men, moving on is a process, and everyone will do it in their own way.
“It’s very sad because they were well known and everybody loved them,” said Junior Alyssa Koch.
Walker’s family and friends said their final goodbyes on Dec. 14 at his funeral. A car rally was also held in honor of the two men at the crash site.
