Thanksgiving Travels
Thanksgiving is on it’s way and tons of people will be traveling. About 37 percent of people plan to travel for Thanksgiving this year, and roughly over half of that 37 percent are planning to go 300 miles or more. A few reasons for travel are to take a vacation, some people like to travel for Black Friday shopping to go to different stores, and to see family, but this does not mean that all people travel for thanksgiving.
Mallory Tewell, sophomore said, “We usually don’t travel for Thanksgiving because we have family in town that come over.”
Traveling around holiday time is kind of a hassle because tons of people tend to travel around holidays. Traveling for some people is easy, because they do it every year. They already know what their plan is. For people new to traveling around holidays, make sure you have a good plan. Check your vehicle for any mechanical issues so you do not break down. A few things you could check are your tires, oil, etc. The last thing you want is to have vehicle troubles. A couple things to make sure of before you start your trip are:
1. Avoid popular travel dates.
2. Book your flights early if necessary.
3. Pack wisely, such as appropriate clothing.
4. Leave earlier in the morning. There’s usually less traffic.
5. Drive or fly safely.
6. Have a place to stay when you get there.
7. Make sure you have extra money with you, just in case.
8. Have a driving plan if needed for long distance travel.
9. Make eating plans for on the road.
10. Check the weather!
