UHS Broadcasting
Some of the things we are going to do is go on a field trip to Chicago to one of the major news stations, called NBC. We are really excited about going to one of the major stations in Illinois.
Another reason to be excited for the new year in Journalism is UHS Sports. We started to broadcast the sporting events after we started our talk show our freshman year (2011) when John Seyler and Miguel Fierro did it. Broadcasting is a part of Journalism where we like to have fun and talk about the game while it goes on.
The U-talk is a talk/news show that is run by the UHS Broadcasting students. It’s a show like SportsCenter, and we are going to try and make it a more serious type news show this season.
There are different committees that make up Journalism. It makes up the things we talk about in the school newspaper. The people in the class make up what is being said in the ECHO.
But, the broadcasting team are the people that commentate the sporting events, and decide what gets aired in the back room. The back room of 2216 is the room where we do all of our work. It’s a place where the magic happens.
The members of this group are Stanley, Ricardo, Ben, Fransisco, Neil, Talijah, Jacob and me (Abram). There are going to be new faces in this group, as well. We have two leaders that tell us what to do. Their names are Benjamin Ross and Kimberly Russell. Ben tells us how he wants the show to be done. We have a scheduling boss, her name is Kimberly Russell. She wants to know when the show is going to be aired and edited by and she tells us what day/time she wants us to be at sporting events.
Ricardo Vargas, a junior, said, “I am really excited about broadcasting this year because there are so many different things to do this year for broadcasting; so many epic things.”
So, we are excited about this year. I can’t wait for great and spectacular things this year for Broadcasting.
