Fight Review: Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano
Two of the best female bantamweights in the world took on the UFC octagon on April 13. Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano fought in the Ultimate Fight Season 17 finale.
The ladies fought to obtain not only the next fight with Rhonda Rowsey, but be the next team leader in the Ultimate fighter. With the stakes higher than ever for both of these women, they brought their A-games.
Throughout the match the competitors alternated their strategies, lasting all three rounds in the ring.
Tate wasted no time. Catching Zingano by surprise early on, pushing the pace and shooting in for her patented takedowns.
This happened several times in the first round. But then Tate tried to take it to the ground.
By the end of the second round, Tate’s pace began to take a toll on her and Zingano started to take over. She secured the top position and dropped a lot of heavy left hands and elbows, bloodying up her nose in the process.
In round three, Zingano immediately took it back to the ground giving Tate the beating of a lifetime.
When Tate tried to get back up, Zingano had a perfectly timed knee to the face waiting for her.
Zingano continued to throw knee after knee to Tate’s face.
The last elbow to the nose caused the ref to end the fight.
Zingano will face Rhonda Rowsey for her next fight.
Though the date has yet to be announced for this, it will be a very tough fight for both women.
Great! I love more women in MMA.
