The LeBron James Legacy
From kid LeBron to King James, LeBron James has become one of the NBA’s most dominant and skilled players. His hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, drafted the highly anticipated teen prodigy at the age of 18 years old. While questions rose on how well kid LeBron would be in the NBA, LeBron rose higher on and off the court, while proving his doubters wrong.
During the closing days of James’ high school career, his big decision to play in the NBA instead of college shocked and awed a lot of people around the world. His Rookie season was filled with amazing basketball skill, broken records and to add to that a great shoe deal with Nike. No doubt had LeBron showed the sports world that he was worth all the hype and more, but he also showed how relatable he was to everyone else.
Growing up as a kid LeBron had a rough life of missing a lot of school days and living in violent neighborhoods. Though his mom Gloria James always made ends meet for her son, James needed an assurance that he could be successful. According to Jockbio.com James moved in with his football coach Frankie Walker, who made sure James had a stable and safe environment to live in.
Through all this James attained good grades and especially exceled in sports. Sophomore Josh Hogan says, “As a player LeBron is really amazing and impressing to watch.” I think that because of his great talent that so many people pick out negatives about him.” As this may be true, the recent negativity towards James became significant after James left his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This emotion packed event known as “The Decision” has been ridiculed on late night shows such as “Jimmy Kimmel Live, and also became an event that put NBA fans on the edge of their seats. After James decided on July 9, 2010 to join the Miami Heat, fans back in Cleveland reacted with anger, hate, and sad emotions. Sophomore Seth Patterson says, “LeBron’s decision to leave Cleveland and go to Miami was a good decision because he needed to win a ring.” He does not want to be the King without a ring.”
Simply enough LeBron Left Cleveland for Miami to win a ring. Some say, “It was not loyal to do what he did.” Others say, “He had every right.” What ever the reason LeBron James will soon face the same decision with his free agency closing in. Still James has a legacy to fulfill.
Lebron James is overrated- but your article is nicely written.
