House Of Night: Book Review
The House of Night is a series of books about the struggle of 16 year old, Zoey Redbird, dealing with becoming a fledgling vampyre.
A fledgling is someone still going through the change to become a full fledged vampyre. She has to deal with having more powers than any other fledgling or vampyre. She has a lot of competition because the world is filled with Houses of Night, where fledglings go to learn about being a vampyre and also accept the change or reject it and die.
Zoey has power over the five elements which are air, fire, water, earth and spirit. She also has strange markings that go all over her body.
She and her five friends complete the circle of power that represents Nyx, the goddess of Night.
Her friends all have one certain element powers which they use to deal with many things throughout the series.
One of the things Zoey and her friends have to deal with in the series is love. In the first book, Marked, Zoey has a hard time dealing with her almost-ex-boyfriend Heath Luck. He is a human, and she is a fledgling. Their worlds have never mixed, no matter how much they want them to.
Another thing they have to deal with is their powers. In the series fledglings all deal with getting amazing powers, but they have to control them. The simplest thing they do can change good intentions, into something bad.
Zoey and her friends also have to deal with enemies. Throughout the series readers meet many of Zoey’s enemies, some who were on her side in the beginning.
I found this series to be enjoyable and heartfelt, making me beg my parents for the next one each time I finished a book. P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast have outdone themselves with this series.
If you love mystery, magic and twists within every book I highly recommend this series.
Very nice article. I particularly like how you describe the books without giving too much away. Now I want to read them.
