Illini wins 24-7 over Broncos
Despite threats of rain, tornadoes, and other muggy weather, Illini fans still filled Memorial stadium for the first home game of the Fighting Illini’s 2012-2013 season between the University of Illinois’ Fighting Illini and the University of Western Michigan’s Broncos, which the Illini won 24-7.
The U of I dominated the first half, starting the game by scoring a touchdown barely two minutes into the first quarter. By halftime, Illini led 17-0 over the Broncos.
Shortly into the second half, the U of I’s leading quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase suffered an ankle injury.
Near the end of the third quarter, the Broncos scored a touchdown which required several minutes of review before being declared by the referees as a valid touchdown.
In the end, the Fighting Illini ultimately won the game 24-7 over the Broncos mostly due to their early lead and multiple interceptions.
