Cyber bullying is a growing issue in our society. It’s getting worse and never-ending. Cyber bulling is getting out of control and is becoming an everyday thing in our world. It really needs to change.

Urbana High School Freshman Valerie Mora said, “It’s not okay because they want to commit suicide and get help but are just too scared to get it.”

Kids don’t need to be rude to other kids. They are supposed to be having fun and not having to worry about being made fun of, or getting bullied at school or around their community.

Freshman Tene Roberts said, “I don’t agree with it because it can cause people to harm themselves and people around them.”

Jamey Rodemeyer killed himself for being bullied at school due to being gay. Rodemeyer was 14 years old. He had just started high school in New York. Rodemeyer was bullied all through middle school and finally one day, he was just fed up with it. He took his own life. Rodemeyer made a video about how he was gay. He posted it on “It Will Get Better,” a website for gay and straight people who get bullied. After his death, they found out that he was being made fun of when he was in elementary school. However, at the time it wasn’t because of his sexuality.

Rodemeyer said, “It will get better. I know so many people that are so nice and helped me through it but I’ve just had my limit with it.”

Lady Gaga saw what happened to Rodemeyer on the news and tweeted about it.
Gaga said, “Bullying is a hate crime, it should be against the law.”

Ashley Billasano got cyber bullied from her dad who lived out of state. He was sending her very rude messages on Facebook and Twitter. She tweeted 144 times in six hours about how and when she was going to commit suicide. But she didn’t get any help before it was too late. She had already committed suicide. The police of Texas where she used to live are still investigating on her death.

People always post YouTube videos about their stories and situations. There are ways to get help. There are people out there who are willing to help you. They will be by your side and help you through it. No matter what, someone will be there for you, even if you don’t see it.

Ways too get help are by seeing a school counselor, or maybe just by talking to someone you trust and you’re really close with. But there are also organizations that help you if you’re getting cyber bullied also.

  1. Danielle, this is an amazing article. It’s so true, and it speaks the truth about a big problem. My cousin gets bullied and he talks to me all the time and forwards me the messages people send to him. Thank you for shedding light on a very real, and very bad thing happening in the world right now.
