Red Tails
At Savoy 16 theatre, it was a packed house for the premiere showing. Excitement and curiosity filled the air as people filed into their seats. George Lucas, Chairmen and CEO of LucasFilm, has had the idea of making a film of the historic Tuskegee group in mind for the past two decades, in which the leading roles would be all black. However, he could not find anyone to help sponsor the movie, so he finally took matters into his own hands. With Lucas financing the flick, viewers were very anxious to see the action-packed thriller.
Although based on a true story, the movie was not made as a documentary but more of a war adventure. The mind-blowing dogfights and side love story between Pilot Joe “lightning” Little and Sofia kept those movie watchers’ eyes on the screen. As creator of the Star Wars saga, Lucas is quite the expert on aerial combat. With so many amazing POV shots, critics couldn’t refuse giving him the credit he deserves.
“This was a fun movie to see with friends and family,” said Junior Jordan Patterson, “I think it’s a great movie for people of all ages and it’s cool to see a film like this while studying this topic in history class.”
“I was happy with the film overall,” said Junior Chris Lenear, “It was a great watch and I learned a lot about the Tuskegee Airmen.”
With a round of applause wrapping up the movie, it became clear that the audience got what they paid for. The nation also seemed to be excited about the movie’s appearance on the big screen.
Overall, crafty effects and astounding scenes of the wartime skies allows the viewers to leave with electrifying images of the Red Tails in battle. This movie can set the tone for the next movie investor who is inspired by this and wants to revisit another true story with an all black cast such as Lucas vigorously did.
I will watch it.
