Fall 2011 Video Games

For gamers, this year has been an exciting year! Many new games have come out already and there will new ones within a couple months.
Gears of War 3 is a game that came out September 20, 2011 for the Xbox 360. It sold over $3 million copies within its first week on the shelves. “Gears of War 3 has new online modes to play which brings a whole new feel to the game,” said Urbana High School Junior Adam Bengston.
The franchise of Gears of War has been very popular over the years and has made a total of over $1 billion in gross sales being one of the most money making games on the market.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a game that many gamers are waiting for to come out. Call of Duty’s previous game Call of Duty Black Ops, broke the world record sales for copies sold in one day. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is game that is the hype of all video games and may possibly beat the world record of copies sold in a day. UHS Freshman Nick Amaya said, “I believe that this game can beat the previous world record because more people have heard of the game and more people will buy it.”

This game will come out on all of the major game consoles. It is expected to do so well in sales that Microsoft has joined with the creators of the game Infinity Ward; they have made a Limited Edition Xbox 360 console to be released with the game. It is scheduled to come out November 8, 2011 and can already be pre-ordered.
