UHS Baseball Begins
The Urbana Tigers are ready to get another hard-hitting season underway. The baseball team is pumped and exited to get their season started in their home territory against St. Thomas More High School, who the Tigers defeated last spring. With a new head coach, Mike Johnson, and a couple of other new faces on the team, it will be interesting to see how the Tigers will do this year.
“We’ve got a fairly young team this year, but everyone is highly motivated and extremely hard workers. Our team has a lot of new guys that have the potential to be really great players so I think we have the potential to be a winning team and definitely contenders for Regionals,” said Senior Gabe Murrey-Inskeep.
“With the varsity experience level as low as it is this year, our team will definitely have to overcome some early-season obstacles,” said Murrey-Inskeep. “That said, I know that everyone on team is dedicated to improving throughout the entire season and we have confidence in each other and in our coaches. On that note our team goals are to have a winning record and more than anything else we all (coaches included) want to take home a long-overdue Regional Title for Urbana Baseball.”
“We aren’t going to be as strong as the past years, but we have huge hearts. I think we will surprise people,” said Senior Nick Johnson.
The Tigers seem really motivated about the season and cannot wait to show off their talent to the spectators and fans. Wish them luck as they get prepared for their season opener on March 14 at Prairie Park.
