Bullying Hurts
Bullying hurts. A lot of kids are being bullied these days, mostly by peers. Administrator Magazine stated that 21% of kids have gotten mean or threatening e-mails, while 58% have not told there parents about it.
For example, in Texas, a 13-year-old boy named Asher Brown, shot and killed himself because he was being bullied for his sexuality.
“People who are being bullied probably are breaking down on the inside. They feel worthless due to others remarks,” Ruby Gaylen said.
Over the past years, a statistic shows that 77% of students are being bullied mentally, physically, and emotionally, said Administrators magazine. Many adults do not condone bullying, but are part of the cause bullying happens. Parents may give their children unfair expectations or standards that are to stressful.
“Some people do not know they’re bullying or they just do not care about the peers they are bullying’s feelings,” said Ruby Gaylen.
Administrator magazine stated that 14% of students have received mean or hurtful comments online, while 13% people have been the subject of rumors online.
People who are bullying may not be bigger or stronger than the other person being bullied, but they do it online to destroy the others reputation without facing so much of the consequences that follow up with it.
One out of five teens says that they have been bullied over the Internet or through text or some other electronic way.
‘Why do people bully others?’
Over 15 people at UHS interviewed with this question said that they do so because they have low self esteem about themselves and do not know a helpful and easier way to express themselves without hurting others.
And by that, they take all the hatred and anger they have building up inside, and blame another person for them all.
But either way, bullying is bad. It is a start of taking another person’s life away, and ruining their self-esteem
