Fallout is the ending to the Crank Trilogy that Ellen Hopkins has been writing for quite a while now, Crank was the start and Fallout is the finish. Crank and Glass have followed the main character Kristina’s story and through her wild and crazy meth addiction, Fallout is following her three kid’s stories. This book is based on the future and how Kristina’s addiction affected her children throughout there lives.

The three main characters are all different children and have different fathers but Kristina is there shared mother. The kids are Hunter, Autumn, and Summer. These kids all have different perceptions about their mother but they are connected to each other in one way or another. Each father was pulled into the two other books at their own point and became a part of Kristina’s life, and even formed another story in Kristina’s belly. Kristina has left her children in her monstrous path and it’s up to her children to survive or fall into their mom’s footsteps.

I think this book is a great read because it really keeps you entertained through and through and you never want to put it down, this story touches you and it also relates to the many people and their stories and addictions. All of Hopkins’ books are something significantly greater to a great book to me- they are something that can pull you in and make you feel like you are in the characters shoes and you are inside the story. The way Hopkins writes is in little diagonal lines, zig-zags, and even transforms her writing into shapes…her writing is a little confusing at first but once you get the reading her odd poems down you will be dragged into the story.

If you haven’t read Crank or Glass then you should probably read those before you jump into the depths of Fallout…and to the deep end of the full-blown monster extravaganza. This series will leave you questioning what the real end is like, and where everyone will go from there ending spots. But Hopkins is letting you decide.
