Battling Spring Fever
Winter is over, daffodils are out, and the breeze of the air brings us the sign that spring is finally here. The spring of the year is a favorite season for many people, and it is certainly easy to understand why this is so. The spring is when we witness the beauty of our surroundings after a long of cold winter. It is in the spring when the first flowers begin to bloom and the green world begins to return after its winter slumber. There is no doubt that the spring is one of the most beautiful, and most colorful, of all seasons for a lot of people out there.
However, with all these wonderful reasons to make us love spring, there are also certain things that we have to go through in the coming of this season-and what is this? It is simply called spring fever. Basically, spring fever are symptoms brought about by hormonal changes in the body during the season of spring. This strikes when the days lengthen and temperatures begin to climb. This mostly affects students; many children and teenagers who have managed to “keep it together” academically and emotionally since the beginning of the school year start to “lose it” when spring approaches. These people tend to become restless, start to daydream, become easily bored with academics, and can experience rapid mood swings. Thankfully, there are ways to push through this seemingly infectious malady that affects people of all ages.
To battle spring fever, it might actually be a good idea to go out in the warm, nice weather, and do outdoor exercises. Getting outdoors can not only battle spring fever, it can also get you up and moving. “Don’t get lazy. Continue to stay in school. Do your work, and stay rested for class,” says Sophomore Kori Lacey.
Exercising outdoors can give you a better workout and burn more calories than the machines at the gym. Some exercises you can do outdoors would be walking, swimming, biking, hiking and even yoga. There are tons of accessible activities you can do outdoors that might take your mind away from spring blues. “Have fun and stay active!” says Sophomore Trista Pelmore.
See other ways of seeing spring approach. Some people might spend their time looking for new trends for the season. “For me, I usually spend my time exploring the new up do’s for spring. It takes my time off whatever I’m feeling due to the shift of the weather,” says Sophomore Lisa Kandil.
Spending you time discovering the fashion for the season would occupy your time and you would most definitely enjoy it. Spring season is usually the ideal time to freshen up your wardrobe. Search for new accessories, dresses, skirts, and shoes to match up the lovely weather of spring!
Take a different approach. When it comes to either school or work, battling the spring fever is not easy. Although there aren’t any possible solutions to avoid spring fever, people can cope with it somehow. People can channel the energy they don’t usually have by putting a soft comfortable harness on the restlessness. Letting it go makes it harder to remedy in the end. Finding a sense of closure at the end of spring break would probably be a good idea too. This can include psyching up for the coming school tasks, and getting on track with whatever you have to do, whether it comes to work or school.
For people who love traveling and getting new adventures, going on a trip would probably their first idea to avoid the spring blues. Truly, when you’re in a place that is hugely different from your normal surroundings, it takes your mind off everything. Going in places that you would have a blast in would surely be the best solutions to cope with spring fever.
So there you go, those are some solutions to cope and push through spring fever. Hopefully by now, you’ll be familiar with what it is truly about, and why it has a big effect on different people. We all have different reactions to the coming of spring, but with some of the tips provided above, it might be easier for you to avoid it-and always remember, spring season is basically a season of renewal, try not wasting it by bringing out those unusual and usually out-of-control behavior.
