Sugar cookies are essential as you get ready for the spring. Sugar cookies are great and can be decorated in great spring colors. If you get fun cookie cutters like flowers and birds and other spring shapes the cookies can look fantastic. The best part about making these tasty treats is in the end you get to eat them. Here is a recipe that is so easy that i always use when I make sugar cookies.

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups flour

1) First preheat your oven to 400F.

2) Then cream the butter and sugar, next beat in the egg and vanilla.

3) Third mix the baking powder and flour, then add to the creamed mixture one cup at a time, mixing after each addition.

4) The dough might become very stiff. If dough becomes too stiff, add water, a teaspoon at a time. Next blend the last of the flour in by hand.

5) Next roll out dough on a floured surface.

6) Then cut out cookies in floured dipped cookie cutters.

7) Finally bake cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet on the middle rack of your oven, for 6-8 minutes or until the cookies  are lightly browned.

White Glaze

1/8 cup water
1/8 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon almond
2 cup powder sugar
Assorted sprinkles
Food coloring

1) Mix all the ingredients together (except sprinkles) and if you wish you can die the glaze to make it different colors.

2) Last decorate the cookies with icing and sprinkles and enjoy!
