A friendly reminder to all the boys trying out for baseball this week, if you’re planning on competing this season you might want to know what’s in store for you this year. First off what everyone needs to know is just because you signed up for baseball, does not guarantee you a spot on the team. Each year the team’s roster changes, if you made the team last year it doesn’t mean you have an automatic pass through tryouts. You have to give it your all at all times, whether you’re trying out, practicing or playing. The baseball team practices Monday through Saturday, meaning you need to be prepared as well focused on everything you do. You have to be ready to do anything they tell you whether you’re on the JV team at the Urbana High School baseball field or on the Varsity team at the East Washington Field. They go over everything for everyone on the team, that means hitting, catching, throwing, running etc. If you want to play you better get serious and give a 120% until you can’t even move.

If you have trouble giving it your all then why no try and remember what inspired you to tryout in the first place. Remember what you like about baseball and use that to help you reach your goal, everybody has something that they like about baseball.

“I tryout for baseball because Its by far one of my favorite sports, and I’ve been playing the game since I was 5 years old,” says Salmon Khan, a Sophomore who was one of last year’s baseball players.

Even if you don’t make the team this year you can all ways starts training for next year. Whatever you did wrong this year, you’ll have a whole year to work on it until the next tryouts. Plus even if you can’t make the team there are still other things that you can do to help be a part of the team, like being a manager. So don’t sweat it, just give it your best and if things don’t work out there’s always next year.
