Make Your World a Winter Wonderland
Winter can be not fun when the weather is gross, but bad weather shouldn’t stop you from hanging out with your friends. Here are enjoyable activities that you can do outside and in the comfort of heat.
1) U of I Ice Arena- Skating is a fun thing to do on the weekends with your friends and it is inexpensive. $5 for admission and $2 for skater rental. The arena is open Saturdays/Sundays: 1:30-4 pm, Wednesdays: 7:30-9:30 pm, and Fridays: 7:30-9:30 pm. For more information call (217) 333-2212.
2) The Movie Theater- Either Savoy or the Beverly Cinema. A new movie coming out this winter Lovely Bones based on the book by Alice Sebold’s. This movie is about the murder of a young girl and the family’s journey to find the murder. For other movies coming out soon go to http://www.moviefone.com.
3) Sledding- This is a great thing to do and is lots of fun. Just make sure you dress for the weather. Orchard Downs is the best place to go for sledding and is close by.
4) Build a fort and have a snowball fight- Just like when you were a little kid, but you can still have a blast doing it as you’re older. So gather up some friends and go to war!
5) Build a Snowmen- gather the carrots, raisins, broom, sticks, scarves and other things and get to work. Remember to be creative and if you really want you could turn it into a snowmen competition.
6) Volunteer- Help in the community there are many things to do around the winter and holidays. Like work at a soup kitchen or even shovel an elderly person sidewalk.
I’m defiantly going ice skating a couple times this winter. Good article!
Mere:
I enjoyed your article. I do miss going Ice Skating with you, Maddie and Mom at the UI Ice Arena. We can go to the movies or sledding at Orchard Downs during our Christmas Breaks. Keep writing.
