Happy New Years!
“Five… four… three… two… one!” It’s a phrase that rings around the world once a year. New Year’s Eve is almost upon us, and what better a way to ring in the new year than to throw a party? Follow these tips for throwing a fun (and budget friendly) New Year’s Eve party that will be sure to get your year off to a great start.
Music!
Music is a must for any party. Luckily for high school students that don’t have very much money, its easy and free on iTunes. Its always fun to go for music that’s good to dance to, but if you don’t want to throw that kind of party, its not tough to find music that won’t interfere with party mingling.
Food and drinks!
Another nice thing about a New Year’s party is that it’s late enough that people will have already eaten dinner, so you won’t have to buy a lot of food. Try little things that are easy to munch on, like these honey spiced almonds or chocolate candy cane cookies. To make this job easier, you might even ask some of your friends to bring a little something. As for the drinks, its a classic to have a fizzy drink when the bell strikes 12. Try sparkling grape juice as a nonalcoholic version of champagne.
Games!
If you don’t spend the entire night dancing, its good to have fun little games activities to do. If those attending the party haven’t already done so, you could exchange holiday gifts or do have a ‘Secret Santa.’ Other activities or games to play could be Twister or any other board game of your choice.
Midnight Fun!
Whether or not you choose to watch the ball drop in Times Square (although it’s an hour off for us), there are plenty of ways to announce that it’s midnight here. Try poppers with streamers for a little excitement after you’ve finished counting down.
No matter how you spend it, The Echo staff wishes all of our readers a Happy New Year!
