Class of 2011 Wins Floatbuilding
They had a great float of a Tiger hitting a Macarthur player with a hammer. The freshmen class also had a good float that placed second, a great start for their first homecoming.
The floats are made out of chicken wire, glue, poms and a lot of hard work. “Float building was a fun way for classmates to bond,” said Sophomore Tess Allen.
The students worked really hard to get them ready for the homecoming parade on Friday. Float building was held at the MTD bus garage and began on Tuesday and finished up on Thursday.
The floats were judged Thursday evening by Superintendent Preston William and a number of principals from other Urbana schools. Then on Friday afternoon, the class hitched up the floats to trucks and they made their way through the homecoming parade route. After that, they were taken apart and the floats were thrown away.
