UHS Softball Team Feature
The past years have been a bit rough for the Urbana softball team. The ladies would put up a good fight but in the end have the victory slipped away from them leaving the girls and their fans disappointed. Last year their record was 7-27 but don’t let that fool you, the girls could compete with just about any team on any given day they just couldn’t find their rhythm until now. It’s evident that the Urbana high school softball team has transformed dramatically since the previous years.
Despite of a few issues and setbacks the team has had to face this season the lady tigers seem to have found the spark they needed to get some solid wins under their belt. They currently hold a record of 6-8, which is a huge improvement from the last few years put together and defeating Mahomet in a very close game, which hasn’t been done in years. The team seems to have gathered some solidarity and is looking better than ever!
“Our record this year is a whole lot better than last seasons. I would really like us to keep the wins up and losses down. I mean, we’ve got nothing to lose,” said Sophomore Shelly Brown. “We’ve been winning a lot lately against really good teams. We’re almost 500 and I think we will win Regionals because we sure are capable of it”.
“I’m satisfied with our current record, but it could be better. I expect everyone to work hard and to give it their all,” said Senior jasmine White. “I want them to play because they want to play we are already better than last year and I’m looking forward to improving more. I feel like if we all have good attitudes and stick together, we will have a shot at Regionals”.
The misfortune or bad luck the softball team has had in the past seems to be slowly but surely fading away. It had been awhile since the softball team felt confident about their season and things are look reasonable well for the lady tigers. So go out, support, and cheer them on as they try to efface the image of previous seasons and create a brighter one.
